IELTS Speaking Part 1 – GETTING UP EARLY

Do you like texting?

Yes, I like sending messages. Mostly, I prefer sending text over whatsapp and facebook as they are extensively used platforms and all my friends & relatives are on it.

Do you prefer sending or receiving messages?

Usually, I prefer both! An effective communication is believed to be two-way communication where one is a sender and other is a receiver and vice-versa. On an everyday basis, I exchange hundreds of SMS’s with my work colleagues, relatives and family members.

Have you ever received a confusing text message?

Yes, There was a time when I was befuddled by a text message. It’s interesting anecdote related to my trip to Kerala. Actually, I made an online train reservation where I was supposed to get my booking details through an SMS. I received a message where I was assigned two seats in two different train coaches. Initially, I get confused so I called the Indian railways helpline and found out that it was a technical glitch. Later they send me over the confirmed seat arrangement in another message.

In what circumstances is making a phone call better than sending a text messages?

I think a phone conversation is by all means better to console someone at a time of grief or disappointment. Moreover, a troubled relationship can also find a healthy restart with just a phone call. Text messages in such cases are meaningless and out of context.

Do you recycle? Why?

Indeed I recycle a lot of stuff, for instance, Paper: office paper, magazines, newspapers and junk mail; Juice and milk cartons; Cardboard pieces etc. Recycling is important simply because the more we recycle, the less garbage winds up in our landfills and incineration plants. In short, our planet could be saved!

Did you recycle when you were a kid?

When I was a kid, I used to cut plastic bottles into pieces and turn them into aesthetically looking flower pots. Also, I put my old t-shirts into reuse by turning them into car rags.

Will you recycle in the future?

Well definitely, I would continue to recycle in the forthcoming period. The rate at which we’re exploiting the natural resources, recycling has become the need of the hour. I will surely play my part by recycling more and more products in the future.

What kind of things do you recycle?

As I said, I put myriad of things into reuse such as I make artistic coasters out of old CDs by drawing or painting on them; I use take-away containers, glass jars and small pots to store cakes, needles, threads, buttons, coffee beans and spices.

Sports

Are you interested in sport?

Certainly I am interested in sports activities. I relish an active lifestyle where my day usually starts with jogging in the park and ends up playing badminton in the evening

What sports do you like? Why?

There are countless sports that I like. To name a few, let’s say, Badminton, Cricket and Football are my favourites. They are outdoor sports and as such keep my physical health in check. Imay not feel at home pounding away on a treadmill or working up a sweat in the gym, but I’ll happily chase a ball around endlessly while playing a game of some sort.

What sports do people in your country like to play?

Cricket is the best-loved sport in my country. You’ll normally find children and youngsters playing Cricket on the streets of India. In addition to that, Indians also like to play Football.

What benefits do you think sport can bring us?

There are numerous advantages of having a sporty way of life. For sure, playing sports is a generally a fantastic way to improve our fitness and health. Sports can help us fight depression and anxiety. The best thing about sports is that you will meet people with a similar interest to yourself and are likely to gain many new friends.
